Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is one of the oldest healing arts, as well as one of the most pleasant. It enhances the body, mind and spirit using aromatic, botanical essential oils to provide balance and help alleviate symptoms of illness. It treats the whole person and is therefore considered to be a holistic therapy. Because essential oils work on many different levels, this makes it a popular and versatile therapy.

Essential oils are the life force of a plant, which contain medicinal and aromatic properties. Essential oils are extracted from many different plants and parts of plants such as leaves, flowers, roots, fruit, and bark. Therapeutic uses are unlimited due to the different qualities of essential oils. Depending on the essential oil used, Aromatherapy can help you relax, rejuvenate, increase mental alertness, relieve pain, fortify, plus much more.

Essential oils are absorbed into the body via the skin or the nose and travel through the bloodstream to where they are needed. The most popular methods of using essential oils are massage, compresses, inhalations and baths.


Clients usually go to an Aromatherapist for a massage using essential oils however depending on the condition, compresses or inhalations may be used. A unique blend of three or four essential oils is selected for each client to give the most beneficial effect for the individual's needs. The blend is used in a full body lymphatic massage (this waste removal system of the body is cleaned out and the production of white blood cells is stimulated to fight against infection). The essential oils are concentrated and mixed with a carrier oil, which is derived from animal or vegetable sources such as almond or grapeseed. They are usually odourless, and absorb into the skin without leaving a greasy residue. They also contain nutrients that nourish the skin. The combination of the essential oils and the carrier oil is very therapeutic.
