Polarity Therapy
Polarity Therapy is the art and science of balancing the life force energy that makes up our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of ourselves by using love, positive attitudes, gentle bodywork, exercise and nutrition. Dr. Randolph Stone (1891 - 1981) an osteopath, a naturopath, and a chiropractor developed it in the 1950's. Central to many ancient and traditional health care systems, such as Indian Ayurvedic, Acupuncture, and Oriental Medicine, is the concept of energy and energy balancing. It states that when a person's energy is balanced, a person is healthy; when out of balance the person may experience pain, stress, tension and eventually dis-ease. This is because the energy currents have become blocked. It also implies that the human body has a natural affinity toward wellness and within each of us lies the ability to heal. Current research proves that electromagnetic forces are the foundation of life. The word Polarity was selected to describe this energy using the concepts above. Human beings are composed of energy patterns that make up their physical, mental and spiritual dimensions. Restoring the flow of the currents improves physiological and emotional functioning. While Polarity Therapy is a relatively new holistic therapy, the secret to its success is that this health building tool integrates the understanding of energy theory and the physiology of the human body, as it addresses the whole person and the whole body, on all levels, and with all systems. During a typical session, a client lies on a table, fully clothed. The practitioner assists the client in becoming aware of underlying causes of their discomfort. The practitioner encourages balance of the energy flow through specific hands on bodywork patterns. Exercise, nutritional guidance and positive affirmations may also be used. Techniques may include aspects of acupuncture, osteopathy, chiropractic, naturopathy, reflexology, massage and yoga. A practitioner may also support their client to process feelings that may arise, in a safe environment. Benefits
